Database Help

OUR FAMILY TREE on the top navbar takes you to the homepage of the genealogy database. Reading the articles on this page and following their links is a great way to start using the database. If you click on a name in the colorful Top 100 Surnames (at the bottom of the page) you will go to a page with a list of all the ancestors who have that last name. Click on a name and you will go to that ancestor’s individual record.

Tan Navbar

This navbar can be found on every page of the database just below the big “Rooted in New England” picture. Here is how the links on it work:

  • Home brings you back to the database homepage.
  • Search brings up a form with different ways to search for a person in the database.
  • Login brings you to a form where you can login or edit your profile once you are a registered user. (Registration form is on HELP menu.)
  • Find has a drop-down menu of the various lists of data and search forms you can use.
  • Media has a drop-down menu of the various lists of media you can see such as photos and documents.
  • Info has a drop-down menu of various pages that may be available with information like What’s New or Statistics. The Contact link is for comments related to the database.
  • English has a little drop-down menu where you can choose to view the database in English or French.
  • On many pages you will also see links to Print (helps you print that page on your printer) and Bookmark (helps you bookmark that page or go to a bookmark you already made).

Usually your final goal in a search will be an ancestor’s Individual Record. These individual record pages are pretty complicated so I plan to have a separate guide to them on the HELP menu. (Coming soon.)
