This simple combination of potatoes and onions is anything but ordinary.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS olive oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb Idaho potatoes, peeled and sliced \u00bc inch thick<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">Salt and freshly ground white pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">4<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS (\u00bd stick) butter, cut into pieces<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">onions, julienned<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS chopped garlic<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS finely chopped fresh parsley leaves, for garnish<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heat <strong>oil<\/strong> in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Once hot, cover bottom of pan with half the <strong>potatoes.<\/strong> Season with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>pepper.<\/strong> Dot with half the <strong>butter<\/strong> and repeat with an additional layer so all the <strong>potatoes<\/strong> and <strong>butter<\/strong> are used. Cook until <strong>potatoes<\/strong> begin to brown on the bottom, 10 to 15 minutes. Add <strong>onions<\/strong> and season with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>pepper.<\/strong> Cook, stirring, until <strong>onions<\/strong> and <strong>potatoes<\/strong> are cooked through, 8 to 10 minutes. Add <strong>garlic<\/strong> and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Toss together.<\/p>\n<p>Using a spatula, gently lift <strong>potatoes<\/strong> out of pan and place on a serving platter.
