The perfect cake when you can\u2019t decide if you want chocolate or vanilla!\nPrep: 30 Bake: 35\n<ul>\n   <li><span class=\"quantity\">2\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup Bob&#8217;s Red Mill Super-Fine Cake Flour<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">2\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp baking powder<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp baking soda<\/span><\/li>\n   <li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp salt<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup sour cream, room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup whole milk, room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup granulated sugar<\/span><\/li>\n   <li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">large eggs, room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n   <li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">egg yolk, room temperature<\/span><\/li>\n   <li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp vanilla extract<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup unsalted butter, softened<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz \u00be cup semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>Chocolate ganache:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cups semi-sweet chocolate chips<\/span><\/li>\n  <li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup heavy cream<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>\nPreheat<\/strong> oven to 350\u00b0F.\n\n<strong>Butter<\/strong> and <strong>flour<\/strong> a 10-cup bundt pan.\n\nIn a medium bowl combine <strong>flour, baking powder, baking soda<\/strong> and <strong>salt.<\/strong> Set aside.\n\nWhisk together <strong>sour cream<\/strong> and <strong>milk<\/strong> in a liquid measuring cup. Set aside.\n\nAdd <strong>butter<\/strong> and <strong>sugar<\/strong> to a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Beat until fluffy and lighter in color and almost white, 3-4 minutes.\n\nAdd in the <strong>eggs<\/strong> and <strong>egg yolk<\/strong> one at a time, making sure they are fully incorporated before adding another one.\n\nAdd in <strong>vanilla.<\/strong>\n\nOn low speed add in \u2153 of the <strong>dry ingredients<\/strong> and \u2153 of the <strong>milk mixture.<\/strong> Continue with adding another one-third of the <strong>flour mixture,<\/strong> followed by the remaining <strong>milk mixture<\/strong> and ending with the last third of <strong>flour mixture.<\/strong> Mix until just combined and a smooth <strong>batter<\/strong> forms. Do not over-mix. I like to do the last bit by hand with a rubber spatula.\n\nRemove 1\u00bd cups of the <strong>batter<\/strong> from the bowl and set aside.\n\nAdd the cooled <strong>chocolate<\/strong> to the removed <strong>batter<\/strong> and mix until incorporated. Do not over-mix.\n\nSpoon <strong>vanilla cake<\/strong> into the prepared pan.\n\nSpoon the <strong>chocolate cake<\/strong> on top, avoiding the sides if you can.\n\nUsing a butter knife, swirl the 2 batters together in an S shape motion.\n\nPlace in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.\n\nAllow to cool in the pan for 20 minutes then invert on to a wire rack to cool completely.\n\nServe plain or dust with <strong>cocoa powder, powered sugar<\/strong> or (my favorite) <strong>chocolate ganache.<\/strong>\n\nStore <strong>cake<\/strong> in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.\n\n<strong>Chocolate Ganache:<\/strong>\n\nAdd <strong>chocolate chips<\/strong> and <strong>heavy cream<\/strong> to a medium microwave safe bowl. Heat in 15 second intervals until fully melted.\n\nAllow the <strong>ganache<\/strong> to cool for about 2-3 minutes.
