No-fuss + budget-friendly with the quickest clean-up!<\/p>\n<p>Note: Gayle says this needs more cream cheese.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS unsalted butter, divided<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz Cremini or button mushrooms (see note), thickly sliced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">medium sweet onion, diced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb lean ground beef<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cloves garlic, minced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp dried thyme<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS AP flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup dry white wine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">4<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cups beef stock<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS Worcestershire sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS Dijon mustard<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz egg noodles, uncooked<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup sour cream<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS chopped fresh parsley leaves<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>Mushrooms:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Melt 2 TBS <strong>butter<\/strong> in a large skillet over medium heat. Add <strong>mushrooms<\/strong> and cook, stirring occasionally, until <strong>mushrooms<\/strong> shrink and start to brown, about 3 &#8211; 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Onions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add another TBS <strong>butter<\/strong> and <strong>diced onion,<\/strong> and cook, stirring occasionally, until <strong>mushrooms<\/strong> are tender and <strong>onions<\/strong> are transparent, about 3 &#8211; 5 minutes; season with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>pepper,<\/strong> to taste.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ground beef:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add <strong>ground beef<\/strong> and cook until browned, about 3 &#8211; 5 minutes, making sure to crumble the <strong>beef<\/strong> as it cooks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stroganoff:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stir in 2 cloves of minced <strong>garlic<\/strong> (heaping tsp) and \u00bd tsp <strong>thyme<\/strong> until fragrant, about 1 minute.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in 3 TBS <strong>flour<\/strong> until lightly browned, about 1 minute.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in <strong>wine,<\/strong> scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in 4 cups <strong>beef stock,<\/strong> 2 TBS <strong>Worcestershire,<\/strong> 1 TBS <strong>Dijon mustard<\/strong> and 8 oz <strong>egg noodles.<\/strong> Season with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>pepper,<\/strong> to taste. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer until <strong>pasta<\/strong> is just cooked through, about 6 &#8211; 8 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in \u00bd cup <strong>sour cream<\/strong> until heated through, about 1 &#8211; 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Serve immediately, garnished with <strong>parsley,<\/strong> if desired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: Cremini, white button<\/strong> and <strong>Portobello mushrooms<\/strong> are all the same mushroom, <em>Agaricus bisporus<\/em>, White button mushrooms are the youngest and Cremini are partially matured. They are usually brown and often marked as Baby Bella.
