I thought it also had zucchini.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beef:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb flank steak<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tenderize: (optional)<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp baking soda<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS water<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Marinade:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">egg white<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">pinch white pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1-2\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS of corn starch<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS of oil<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For the vegetables:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">small green bell pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">small red bell pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">zucchini sliced \u00bd-inch thick and quartered, optional<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz mushrooms, quartered<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">4-8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">whole <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">dried chili peppers<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp granulated sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS hot water<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp Chinese black vinegar<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">chili bean paste, (spicy Doubanjiang)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup chicken broth<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS soy sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS oyster sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp rice wine vinegar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp sugar, optional<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp cornstarch<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Beef:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Tenderize the beef with a Jaccard before slicing. (optional)<\/p>\n<p>Slice the <strong>beef<\/strong> with the blade tilted 45 degrees to get a thin cut through the grain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tenderize: (optional)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix 1\/4 tsp baking soda and 3TBS water in a small bowl. Add beef and let sit for at least 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marinate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a bowl, add the <strong>beef, egg white, white pepper, salt,<\/strong> Mix well. Add 1 to 2 TBS of <strong>corn starch<\/strong> and mix well. Add 1 TBS of <strong>oil<\/strong> and mix again. Set aside for 15 to 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Premix sauce: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix all the <strong>sauce<\/strong> ingredients together in a small container and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prep:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cut the <strong>bell peppers<\/strong> into \u00be-inch dice. Cut the <strong>zucchini<\/strong> length wise to quarter, then <span class=\"ingredient-name\">slice into \u00bd-inch thick pieces. Quarter the <strong>mushrooms.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stir fry: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heat a wok and add a tablespoon of <strong>oil<\/strong> until just smoking. Add <strong>beef<\/strong> and stir fry until browned. Remove to bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Add more <strong>oil<\/strong> to the wok, then add the <strong>bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms<\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">dried chilies <\/span><\/strong>and 2 tsp <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">chili bean paste, (spicy Doubanjiang)<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0Stir fry for a minute then add <strong>sugar, water<\/strong> and <strong>black vinegar.<\/strong> Stir fry until tender crisp. Remove to the bowl with <strong>beef.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sauce:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix the <strong>sauce<\/strong> to reincorporate the <strong>corn starch<\/strong> and then pour into the wok. Cook until thickened and return <strong>beef<\/strong> and <strong>vegetables<\/strong> to wok and mix to coat.
