I made a half batch and used one 12-oz bag of stuffing. Fills a 9 x 13 baking dish.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb Jimmy Dean Sausage, special sage recipe<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS butter (1 stick)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">celery stalks, sliced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">large onion, chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cans <strong>GOLDEN<\/strong> mushroom soup<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">soup can water<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">8 oz bags seasoned Pepperidge Farm stuffing crumbs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Brown the sausage in a LARGE skillet, breaking it up as it browns.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the sausage with a slotted spoon allowing the drippings to remain.<\/p>\n<p>Add the butter to the pan and brown the vegetables and apples. When celery is transparent, but still crisp (8-10 minutes), return the sausage to the pan.<\/p>\n<p>Add the soup plus the 1 soup can of water. Stir to mix. Sneak a bite.<\/p>\n<p>Now add the crumbs a little at a time. You will probably only need 2\u00bd bags of crumbs. (Sneak another bite).<\/p>\n<p>Correct the seasoning. Allow stuffing to brown a bit while adding crumbs, stirring occasionally.<\/p>\n<p>Put the stuffing in a pan you can bake it in; (eat the crumbs that spill), store in the fridge until 1 hour before dinner.
