{"id":52336,"date":"2023-08-25T17:07:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-25T17:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nowellfamily.org\/cookbook\/?p=52336"},"modified":"2023-12-04T18:54:48","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T18:54:48","slug":"shrimp-broccoli-with-brown-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nowellfamily.org\/cookbook\/2023\/08\/25\/shrimp-broccoli-with-brown-sauce\/","title":{"rendered":"Shrimp &#038; Broccoli with Brown Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Yield: 2 Servings<\/h4>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\">Wok of Life<\/h6>\n<p>Shrimp and Broccoli was one of the most often ordered dishes at Wok of Life&#8217;s family Chinese restaurant.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">12<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz shrimp (21-25); peeled, deveined, and butterflied)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">10<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz broccoli florets<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup low sodium chicken stock (warmed)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp granulated sugar (or brown sugar)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp soy sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp dark soy sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS oyster sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp sesame oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u215b<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp white pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS canola oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cloves garlic (chopped)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS Shaoxing wine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS cornstarch (mixed with 2 TBS water)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nPrep:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First, prepare the <strong>shrimp<\/strong> and <strong>broccoli.<\/strong> Next, in a medium pot, set 4 cups of <strong>water<\/strong> to a boil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Premix sauce:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While that\u2019s happening, mix the <strong>chicken stock, sugar, soy sauces, oyster sauce, sesame<\/strong>\u00a0oil and <strong>white pepper<\/strong> and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slurry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make a <strong>slurry<\/strong> by mixing 1\u00bd TBS <strong>cornstarch<\/strong> with 2 TBS <strong>water<\/strong> in a small dish. Set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blanch:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Blanch the <strong>broccoli<\/strong> for 30 seconds. Remove and drain.<\/p>\n<p>Let the water return to a boil and blanch the <strong>shrimp<\/strong> for 15 seconds. Remove and drain.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>shrimp<\/strong> will be about 60-70% cooked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stir-fry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heat the wok over high heat. Pour 2 TBS of <strong>cooking oil<\/strong> around the perimeter of the wok, stir in the <strong>garlic,<\/strong> and add the <strong>Shaoxing wine.<\/strong> Next, add the <strong>chicken stock<\/strong> mixture.
