They are always a hit with the family. Over time I\u2019ve found that the stove top variety has some advantages. The glaze will cook down more which makes it thicker.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb carrots, fresh or frozen, regular or baby<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS packed brown sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS butter <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS water<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\/8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp ground cinnamon.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nL<\/strong>arge fresh <strong>carrots<\/strong> should be peeled and cut on a bias about 3\/8 inch thick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Microwave:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cook <strong>carrots<\/strong> in microwave safe covered dish for 4 minutes. Pour off any <strong>water,<\/strong> add rest of ingredients and stir. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until cooked to desired doneness.<\/p>\n<p>Time varies with microwave power and <strong>carrot<\/strong> size.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stove Top:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cook <strong>carrots<\/strong> in a half inch of <strong>water<\/strong> for 5-8 minutes or until starting to get tender.<\/p>\n<p>If the <strong>water<\/strong> is gone, remove from heat and add 1 TBS <strong>water<\/strong> to pan.<\/p>\n<p>Add remaining <strong>ingredients.<\/strong> Stir to coat. Return to heat.<\/p>\n<p>Cook for a few minutes until <strong>sauce<\/strong> thickens and forms a <strong>glaze<\/strong> on <strong>carrots.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Serve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Serves 4 Old Sharp Microwave Cookbook December 1984: I\u2019ve been making these for a long time.
