A comfort food classic that makes for the perfect easy dinner option!<br \/><strong><br \/>For the steaks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS olive oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb ground beef 90% lean<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u2153<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup breadcrumbs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS onion finely minced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp Italian seasoning<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS ketchup<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp Worcestershire sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">egg<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp minced garlic<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00be<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For the gravy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS butter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz sliced mushrooms I used cremini<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup onion chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp garlic minced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">3<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cups beef broth<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS Worcestershire sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp low sodium soy sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS chopped parsley<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">salt and pepper to taste<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>For the steaks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heat the <strong>olive oil<\/strong> in a large pan over high heat.<\/p>\n<p>Combine the rest of the <strong>steak<\/strong> ingredients in a large bowl; stir until thoroughly mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Shape the <strong>meat<\/strong> into 4 equal sized oval shaped <strong>patties.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cook the meat for 4-5 minutes per side or until browned. Remove the <strong>steaks<\/strong> from the pan and cover with foil to keep warm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the gravy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Melt the <strong>butter<\/strong> in the pan. Add the <strong>mushrooms<\/strong> and <strong>onions;<\/strong> season with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>pepper<\/strong> to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Cook the <strong>mushrooms<\/strong> and <strong>onions<\/strong> for 5-6 minutes or until tender and browned. Add the <strong>garlic<\/strong> and cook for 30 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Add the <strong>flour<\/strong> to the pan. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.<\/p>\n<p>Slowly add the <strong>beef broth<\/strong> and whisk until smooth. Bring the <strong>sauce<\/strong> to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Stir in the <strong>Worcestershire sauce<\/strong> and <strong>soy sauce.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add the <strong>hamburger steak<\/strong> back to the pan and toss to coat with the <strong>sauce.<\/strong> Cook for another 5-7 minutes or until warmed through.<\/p>\n<p>Serve on top of <strong>mashed potato <\/strong>sprinkled with <strong>parsley, <\/strong>and a side of <strong>steamed<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>asparagus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yield: 4 Adapted from: Dinner At The Zoo This hamburger steak recipe is seasoned ground beef patties simmered in a savory mushroom sauce.
