An excellent copy, but it needed double the crab, the recipe below now has it doubled. I think the chowder should be a bit thinner with more milk. I added about \u00bd cup extra, but it could have used more.<\/p>\n<p>Prep: 5 Cook: 30<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">large russet potato, peeled and diced \u00bd-inch<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">5<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">slices smoked bacon, chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup chopped yellow onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">12<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz lump crabmeat<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp dried parsley<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS unsalted butter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup AP flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup dry white wine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp chicken Better Than Bouillon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cups whole milk, plus more if needed<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">15-oz can cream style corn or \u00bd <a href=\"https:\/\/nowellfamily.org\/cookbook\/2026\/01\/22\/creamed-corn\/\">Creamed Corn\u00a0<\/a><\/span>recipe<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp Kosher salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bc<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">Snipped fresh chives or chopped dill, for garnish, optional<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">Crusty bread or Ciabatta <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Put the <strong>potato cubes<\/strong> in a microwave-safe dish, cover it with vented plastic wrap, and microwave for 1 minute. Set it aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a large skillet, cook the <strong>bacon<\/strong> for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add \u00bd cup <strong>onion<\/strong> and cook until softened. Remove from heat and stir in 6 oz <strong>crab meat<\/strong> and \u00bd tsp <strong>parsley.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a large saucepan or soup pot, melt 2 TBS <strong>butter<\/strong> over medium-low heat and whisk in \u00bc cup <strong>flour.<\/strong> Stir the mixture until the <strong>flour<\/strong> takes on a light tan color. Whisk in \u00bc cup <strong>wine<\/strong> or <strong>vermouth<\/strong> and stir until the mixture absorbs the liquid.<\/p>\n<p>Mix 1 tsp <strong><span class=\"ingredient-name\">Better Than Bouillon Chicken<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0into the <strong>milk,<\/strong> then slowly whisk that into the simmering <strong>flour mixture.<\/strong> When the thickened <strong>milk\/flour mixture<\/strong> is creamy, stir in the <strong>bacon\/crab mixture<\/strong>, <strong>potatoes,<\/strong> and <strong>creamed corn<\/strong>.
