Skipper<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">6<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">Anjou or Bartlett pears &#8211; ripe<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1\u2153<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup sugar &amp; water to cover in baking dish<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp lemon juice<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">8-12<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz heavy cream<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">plum brandy, or another liqueur<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nCore<\/strong> the <strong>pears<\/strong> and peel, leaving on the <strong>stem.<\/strong> Put the <strong>sugar<\/strong> and <strong>water<\/strong> in a baking dish and place the <strong>pears<\/strong> on this bed. It does not matter if the <strong>sugar<\/strong> is not dissolved. Sprinkle over the <strong>lemon juice.<\/strong> Place in a 350-400\u00b0F oven, uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>After the first fifteen, minutes, begin <strong>basting<\/strong> the <strong>pears<\/strong> with the <strong>pan juices<\/strong> every ten minutes. This ensures they do not dry out. Continue cooking until tender when pierced with a toothpick &#8211; knives leave large marks &#8211; probably thirty minutes total, but this depends upon the ripeness of the <strong>pears.<\/strong> Do not allow the <strong>pan juices<\/strong> to burn!<\/p>\n<p>When tender, remove from the <strong>oven<\/strong> and set the <strong>pears<\/strong> in a serving dish.
