Tasty, tasty, tasty, but Gayle didn&#8217;t like it. She&#8217;s not a fan of sesame oil and thought the dish was spicy, but nothing but a couple twists of pepper in it&#8230; Maybe the ginger?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Premix sauce:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS of cooking sherry wine <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS of sugar <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">cup of water <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shrimp:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">\u00bd<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">lb large shrimp, peeled, deveined<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">salt &amp; pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS soy sauce<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Stir-fry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"id-ingredient-name\">cooking oil, divided<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp ginger, sliced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">tsp garlic, minced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz red onion, sliced thin<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">bunch asparagus (about 1 lb), cut into 1\u00bd-inch pieces on the diagonal<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">2<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">oz red and orange peppers, sliced thin<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS sesame seed oil <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS of oyster sauce <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Slurry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">TBS cornstarch mixed with 2 TBS water <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"quantity\">1<\/span><span class=\"ingredient-name\">pinch of black pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Mise, Mise, Mise, get your mise together!<\/em><\/strong><\/span><strong><em> This means me! This happens so fast, that you must get everything prepped and measured before cooking starts.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>Pre-mix sauce:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stir <strong>wine, sugar, water,<\/strong> and 2 TBS <strong>soy sauce<\/strong> in a small bowl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slurry: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whisk together 1 TBS of <strong>cornstarch<\/strong> and 2 TBS of <strong>water<\/strong> in another small bowl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blanch vegetables:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bring a wok with a quart of <strong>water<\/strong> to a boil. Add some salt. Add <strong>asparagus<\/strong> and boil for 2 minutes. Remove to an <strong>ice water<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>bath<\/strong> to cool. When cool, drain and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stir fry shrimp:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a hot wok add some <strong>cooking oil.<\/strong> Season <strong>shrimp<\/strong> with <strong>salt<\/strong> and <strong>black pepper,<\/strong> add to wok. Cook the <strong>shrimp<\/strong> until it\u2019s browned up. Remove the <strong>shrimp<\/strong> and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stir fry vegetables: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add the <strong>garlic<\/strong> and <strong>ginger<\/strong> to the wok and stir fry 30 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Next add <strong>blanched asparagus<\/strong> and <strong>orange<\/strong> and <strong>red peppers<\/strong> to the wok, stir fry until lightly browned. 1 to 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finish: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add <strong>premix sauce<\/strong> to the wok and let it boil for a couple minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Next add 1 TBS <strong>sesame oil<\/strong> and 1 TBS <strong>oyster sauce.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add the <strong>slurry<\/strong> slowly to your stir fry until the <strong>sauce<\/strong> is to the preferred thickness.<\/p>\n<p>Then add the <strong>shrimp<\/strong> back into the stir fry and stir everything together.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yield: 2 Servings Sue &amp; Gambo Yum.
