EPPING - Jesse C. Lafayette Jr., 82, died July 15, 2007, at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown.
He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Burlington, Mass., the son of the late Jesse C. and Nellie (Gustin) Lafayette. He was raised in Woburn, Mass., moving to Kingston in 1964 and to Epping in 1982.
Mr. Lafayette and his wife owned and operated Lafayette's Variety on Mill Road in Kingston in the early 1970s. He had previously worked as a clerk at the First National Grocery Stores.
The widower of Jean (Abbott) Lafayette, who died in 1994, he is survived by two daughters, Kim Rousseau of Raymond and Diane Carlson of Epping; two sons, Dale Lafayette of Kingston and Dana Lafayette of Newport, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Celia Friend of Kingston; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one great-grandson, Brenden Lee in 2002.
WE REMEMBER: He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the AmVets in Haverhill, Mass., and enjoyed playing golf and candlepin bowling at Pilgrim Lanes and Exeter Lanes.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St. Epping. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Military burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.
