Luther P. Leighton North Andover - Luther P. Leighton, 24 Hewitt Ave., a World War II veteran, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Manchester, N.H. after a short illness. He was 67. Born in Boston, Aug. 7, 1908, Mr. Leighton was a assistant manager of the Road Service department for the Lawrence office of the American Automobile Association. He served in the U.S.Army during World War II, and was a member of Andover Post No. 8 of the American Legion and St. Matthews Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Andover. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary E. Hartman; a daughter, Gayle D., wife of Scott Nowell of Derry, N.H., and a sister, Mrs. Ruth L. Wilkinson of Andover. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Lundgren Funeral Home, 18 Elm St., Andover. Burial will be in West Parish Cemetery, in that town. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Officers and members of St. Matthew's Lodge will conduct a memorial service Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the funeral home.
