1/5 Share of a Patent covering land between the sea and Dover: He was one of the five proprietors of the Dover, New Hampshire, and Swampscott patents, and was from Bristol or Shrewbury, England. The proprietors were Thomas Makepeace, George Willys, Robert Saltonstall, William Whiting, and Edward Holyoke. The patents embraced in them from the "sea side" (near where Portmouth now is) "and coming round the daid land by the ryver unto the Falls of Quamscot" which includes what is now Dover, N. H. Mr. Makepeace was one of the five partners who petitioned the "General Court" to have both patents and the jurisdiction of the people dwelling within the limits of these patents come under the government of Massachusetts, which was granted.

Property called "North End" which he sold to Henry Makepeace of Chepindorsett: 'On 10 August 1635 Thomas, named as the son of William, and his wife Alice, signs a Deed selling a house in Northend. With this Deed is an Abstract of Title naming Henry Makepeace of Chepindorsett as the purchaser in 1526 and 1527, also Thomas Makepeace buying land in 1548/9. It also mentions Henry Makepeace, the elder, of Chepindorset, in 1530 and William Makepeace, Gentleman, in 1620, and finally Thomas Makepeace, son and heir apparent of William, and Alice wife of Thomas. It is this Thomas who apparently went to New England.'

Owned a house and garden in Hanover St., near Court St. This plot was probably not far from what was called the "Market Stead" in the colonial days of Boston. In this "Market Stead" stood the first meeting house of Boston. In a book called "transcript of Boston Records" Vol. 1, p.45, 1637 (City Clerks Office) is the following: "The 25th day of the 7th month September 1637. At a meeting , this day, of Thomas Clyva, Thomas Leveritt, William Hutchinson, William Couldborne, John Cggleshall, Hohn Sanford, William Balstone, and James Penns. :--it is agreed that Mr. Thomas Makepeace shall have a house plot and garden place." This house and garden were om Jampver St., near Court St., and ...not far from what was called the "Market Stead" in the colonial days of Boston. In this "Market Stead" stood the first meeting house of Boston, being a "very tiny affair" as history says, "with a thatched roof". It served for a church until 1640...Boston at this time was only a fishing hamlet--when Mr. Makepeace was granted " his house plot and garden".
