  page 7 In this city Feb 21, 1909 James, beloved son of Mary and the late Lawrence Scanlon, aged 31 years, 4 months. Funeral from his late residence No. 11 Church Street Wednesday at 8 o'clock; high mass of requiem at St. Mary's Church at 9 o'clock. Burial at St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Page 12 The sad news was made known on Sunday morning of the sudden death of James Scanlon at his home on Church Street. He was about in his usual health earlier in the morning having attended the 7 o'clock mass at St. Mary's and ate breakfast on his return from mass. He was sitting in a rocking chair at his home when the members of the family were terribly shocked to find that he was dead. Mr. Scanlon was a young man who possessed the esteem of a host of friends and the news of his death was heard with regret by all. He was a typesetter by trade but for awhile was employed as a conductor on the local electric lines, the deceased thinking that the outdoor employment would be of benefit to his health. He returned to the printing business at which he was employed at the time of his death. Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Timothy, Lawrence and William and two sisters, Nellie and Mary and they have the sincere sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
