William A. Scanlon, 61, husband of Lucy P. (Dole) Scanlon, World War I veteran, died Tuesday in Davis-Park Veteran's Hospital, Providence after a long illness. He was born in Taunton, son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Macarthy) Scanlon and had resided in this town [Lakeville] 30 years. Educated in Taunton schools, he served in the US Army overseas and was an employee of the Mount Hope Finishing Company, North Dighton for 30 years, retiring seven years ago due to ill health. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro and a member of David F. Adams Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Mary J. Dwyer of Stoughton; a sister, Mrs. Mary Green of Taunton, and two grandchildren.
