  Royal Engineers, Sappers and Miners Description Book (TNA ref W054/314) : Joseph Buckler enlisted at age 24 on 20 September 1789 at Woolwich, England. He was shown muster in Gosport Company, was promoted to Corporal on 1st Sept 1803.  After serving 23 years, he was discharged on 31 May 1812 with pension. Board of Ordnance Pension Minutes 1803 (TNA ref WO47/2763) - Joseph Buckler an Artillery Pensioner  15 May 1816 requested his pension in advance for the September quarter to enable him to prepare himself for the voyage to Halifax, N.S.
