  Abstract by Leslie Mahler:      The will of "Will[ia]m Maynard of Sinderhill in the p[ar]ish of Mayfield in the County of Sussex yoman sick of bodye" was written on 20 January in the ninth year of King James of England [1611/12], and proved on 22 April 1612. He gave "To the poore of the p[ar]ish of Mayfield Twenty shillings of lawful money of England [interlined: to be distributed att the day of my buriall by my ov[er]seers att their discretions] It[e]m I will & bequeath unto Deborah my daughter fyfty pounds of [interlined; good &] lawfull mony of England to be paid by my Executrix hereunder named when shee shall accomplish her age of one & Twenty yeers It[e]m I will & bequeath unto Agnes my daughter fyfty pounds of like lawful monye of England to be paid likewyse by my said Executrix when shee shall accomplish her age of One & Twenty yeers." If either of the said daughters died underage without lawful issue, the survivor was to be the heir of the other. The rest of his moveable goods and chattels was given to wife Elizabeth, who was to be executrix. His will regarding his house and lands was that son John was to have the house, barns, lands and tenements, grounds and closes, pastures, woods and underwoods, with the edifices, rooms, and buildings called by the name of Sinderhill at his age of 25, along with 20s. a year.
