Revolutionary War
[He]served for four years during the American Revolution in the N. H. militia, closing his service with the rank of colonel. He raised and mustered men for the 2nd Regt., 1776, and commanded a regiment of N. H. soldiers at Burgoyne's surrender, 1777. Later he commanded a regiment in the Rhode Island campaign under Gen. Sullivan. In 1780 he was in service at West Point.
