  John  Pearce  was  born  in  the  early  part  of  1600,  from  v.hence  he  came to  New  England  is  not  of  record  nor  is  the  exact  date  of  his  arrival. He  was  evidently  married  at  the  time  he  came. His  first  appearance  in  the  records  is  as  a  Fisherman  at  York.  In 1353  and  on  the  2  July  he  was  granted  10  acres  of  land  on  South  Bass Cove.  He  purchased  a  tract  of  land  9  Dec,  1653  from  Edward  Rishworth and  built  a  house  thereon.  (Deeds  i-59)
