[Today] Chambly is an off-island suburb in southwestern Quebec, Canada, about 25 km (16 mi) to the south east of Montreal. It was formed from the merger in 1965 of Fort-Chambly (formerly Chambly-Canton prior to 1952) and the old city of Chambly (formerly Chambly-Bassin prior to 1952, and earlier sometimes called Bassin-de-Chambly). It sits on the Richelieu River in the Regional County Municipality of La-Vallée-du-Richelieu, at 45°27'00?N 73°17'27?W.
Chambly County was a county of Quebec that existed between 1855[1] and the early 1980s. The territory of the county today forms part of the Montérégie administrative region and the Urban agglomeration of Longueuil and the Regional county municipality of la Vallée-du-Richelieu. The county seat was Longueuil.
