Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu is a municipality in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the Richelieu River in the Regional County Municipality of La Vallée-du-Richelieu. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 1,643.

Concession by Governor Frontenac of a fourth seigneury on the edge of the Richelieu under the name of Saint-François-le-Neuf.

First church dedicated to St. Charles Borromeo, built on the current site of the charnel house, in the cemetery.
1800
Almost all the land was conceded, but the village did not exist. A trader, a traveling notary and three doctors form the professional class.
