Getting Started
Our site has quite a few pages; however, most of the pages are pretty intuitive. Nevertheless, there will probably be a learning curve. This guide is intended to get you off to the right start.
Throughout the website links in the text have blue letters. Feel free to follow any link and surf all over the site. If the link takes you to a private family area you will be redirected to the database login form.
The top navbar is always visible at the top of the screen. It contains links to the following major areas of the site.
- GENEALOGY BLOG takes you to the homepage of Rooted in New England where you can view my blog posts.
- OUR FAMILY TREE takes you to the homepage of the genealogy database where you can search for information about your ancestors. If you want to see info on your living relatives you need to fill out a registration form accessible from the HELP menu. See also Database Help for tips on searching the database.
- HELP has a drop-down menu⯆ with a link to this page and other helpful pages.
- CONTACT takes you to a form where you can send a message to me.
- nowellfamily.org takes you to the our family’s general blog, The View From Our Place. It’s top navbar has a link called COOKBOOK that takes you to Scott’s recipe page, It’s Good Though... (which some of you may like better than the genealogy stuff).
